San Diego is on fire again and, although the TV has been completely monopolized by news of the disaster, those infuriating talking heads in front of the cameras say less and less with each passing hour despite their efforts to talk more and more. Here are the two best information sources I’ve found so far, both maintained by the local PBS affiliate.
Frequently updated, detailed map
Short, factual, frequent updates via Twitter
Meanwhile, the Union Tribune is trying to maintain some disorganized excuse of a blog that won’t even load half the time you try and check it. I just tried now and their entire site is MIA.
Good luck to everyone.

I finally cleaned up and uploaded the rest of my doodles. Mike’s have been done for awhile now. Click ‘em to see the whole set. Three cheers for getting ish done while pre-gaming.
Now to walk over to Livewire.

I leave my computer running pretty much 24/7, often with torrents uploading or downloading (piracy, yarrr). My poor machine has been much more stable ever since switching to µTorrent a few weeks ago. Actually, it hasn’t been rebooted since I switched away from ABC—exactly 21 days ago. I haven’t pulled that sort of uptime since hoarding bandwidth on campus freshman year. µTorrent is tiny, both in physical size and memory footprint. 200k to download and usually no more than 6mb of system memory to its name. It’s hard to find such awesome software these days—compare those numbers with 11mb to download ABC and RAM usage upwards of 100mb. Azureus is even worse. Long live µTorrent! Sorry to nerd out.
I’m seeing RJD2 at the Pub tomorrow, then Clap Your Hands Say Yeah in mid-March. Sweet.
Abe turns 21 on Tuesday, the day after Troy turns 23. We’re gonna put them both through the ringer (after we’ve thoroughly saturated them, natch). Troy’s birthday falls on Presidents’ Day, so in the absence of work and class he’s gonna try and clear 23 beers in the yard glass Mike got him for xmas. He did a 12-pack in a night during the White Trash party, so I’m sure he can do it if he starts in the morning like we plan.

Earthquake. Just now.
My desktop computer is back up, so my web cam is being updated once again.
Bloc Party and Ratatat are really good.
I should go to bed.

The video card I bought for my new system was faulty, so it’s being shipped back to eVGA for a replacement. My web cam (and regular updates) will be back in a week. Sorry for the delay.
In other news, millions of butterflies are migrating across California right now and I walked to the bus today amongst veritable clouds of winged insects. The weather was perfect, too. It’s days like these that make me remember why I’m in San Diego.
