Rain = Hate
Mike, 30 October 2001
I got up this morning, took a shower, and stepped outside in to a large puddle of water. It was raining. I had to ride my bike to physics this morning at 9:00am in the rain. What a big pooper.

Being up at 5:20am Monday morning is rad. The whole world is asleep except for Kip and I. We are the last two soldiers fighting against the night.
Daylight savings time is pretty yucky. Tomorrow is a work day, and here I am up at 4:00am. Yuck.
Taking workload english is a waste of my time. I know I can’t write very well, and I know that I have to get better, but can’t I just write a bunch of papers and have someone grade them? Why do I have to sit through a two hour class twice a week and waste my time learning how I should make sure I have a clear thesis statement.
On a completely different note, why do some girls go without shaving their legs for months at a time? And why the hell can they not get on the beds in my room? They aren’t that high!
Bah. I hate schoolwork. I can’t wait until Christmas break … no homework for a month sounds like an excellent idea. On a different note, we started integration by parts on monday, and it’s kind of cool. Maybe I just think that because it was always discussed in revered tones throughout high school. Phtbtbtbtbtbtbtbtbtbtb. (That’s the raspberry sound.)
Ugh. I just finished my last midterm — Vis21: History of Non-Western Art. It was 80 minutes of in-class essays on four lame prompts that required 20 minutes each. I wrote about 7 pages total, and now my left hand has a big, dark shiny graphite patch where it got dragged through my writing the entire time. At least it’s done though, and I no longer have to think about it. It was 30% of my grade in that class, so I suppose I should stress over it a little bit. I love college but I hate having to learn stuff and be graded on it. I just want to go have fun now, but I still have a discussion from 7 to 8 and then a ton of homework to do. Damnit.
I just got back from astronomy, and boy are my arms tired. Heh. Staying up late is overrated.
Well, I woke up earlier than I needed to (4:00am) and now I have some extra time to surf before my bus comes. Wish me luck at Disneyland, everyone — I hear that Mickey’s an asshole when he’s drunk.
Saturday night = download Michael Jackson music videos. What??
Tomorrow morning, my schedule looks a little something like this:
4:30am - wake up
6:11am - catch the 301 bus to Solana Coaster Station
7:38am - get on the 567 train to Anaheim
9:04am - get off the train and meet Mei at the station, then go to Disneyland.
Disneyland! I am going to show my tits for the Splash Mountain cameras.
It seems that my amigo juan, I mean enigma found out how to use java in a useful way. But that is besides the point. When I came back from dinner I discovered a notice on my door that i had received a package. I rushed down to the front desk only to find out that if I had come back 2 minutes earlier I could have taken my package. In conclusion, the package is obviously my webcam, so you will be able to see me dancing in front of my computer by tomorrow night.
Well, it took some work, but I finally got the random images working. We had to abandon the possibility of using PHP since our server can’t support it, but I got the javascript working instead. Now we can continue on with the rest of the site, and I can claim a victory over the wretched Internet and its disgraceful code.
My life is fairly boring, so I won’t bother you with the details, like my friend enigma. All I can do is offer my advice to you, and today my advice is.
Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.
I just got done taking my math midterm. I think I did alright because I’m relatively sure of my answers and I only left 1 problem unsolved. At least it’s a huge weight off my shoulders. Now all I need to worry about is my programming lab that’s due this Friday and my African art midterm next Tuesday.
Will someone tell enigma to use tables in the correct way. He doesn’t know what he is doing.
(This is a threat by the way.)
Sweet merciful CRAP I am tired. I went to bed at 5:00am and woke up at 9:00am for my Calc 20B discussion (i.e. turn in homework). After that, I had to sit through my Java lecture (80min of PURE HELL), and Kube’s voice tends to put me to sleep because he is the most boring speaker ever. Ugh. Now I’m way tired and trying to run on caffeine (unsuccessfully). I hate my Tuesdays!
Instead of doing homework tonight, I’ve been trying to get the PHP to work for what we hope to be a random-image generator for the cell backgroud that you see as a closeup of a computer keyboard (mine, to be exact). But it won’t work! Aaaaaargh!
Well, now that I’ve wasted a couple more minutes posting this, I guess I’ll go tackle the mountain of calculus that awaits me. Bleh.
Fate, it seems has finally caught me. I have gone and ordered me a webcam. So in about 5 working days you will be able to see me and my many amazingly talented friends here in 207D.
Also, I just watched Ninja Scroll. If you like anime with lots of action, you should watch it. Keep in mind it is not for the weak hearted.
A little more than a week ago, a programming lab was assigned to all CSE 11 students. Its deadline for completion (which is an electronic, remote process done from a terminal on your own computer) was Oct. 12th 5:00pm. I started the lab at 12:45pm and turned it in with 29 minutes to spare. It’s going to take about a week for my blood pressure and wrists to return to normal. Still, I’m grinning like a fool right now.
Well it is late on Thursday night, and I have managed to postpone another essay to the night before it is due. This news post is a last ditch effort to get my mind thinking creatively. If anyone has a remedy for a lack of creativity, please let me have it, or I think I am going to die.
The plan for this morning was to study for my CSE 11 (Java programming) midterm after our hellish 7:15am fire drill … but I can’t seem to bury my nose in my book right now and I’m actively searching out something to distract me. The test is at 11:10, so I really need to scan over some of the material right now. At least I was able to get some sleep — last night was the first time I’ve been asleep before 2:00am. Kip and I were both in bed by 11:45pm … it was a miracle.
Woohoo! The webcam is up! Click the link under the ‘currently’ section to check it out. If this all goes well, I might as well start my own amature porn site — it would sure be nice having a bit of extra income. I know I’d have at least a few customers…
I’ve been pretty much avoiding caffeine for most of my time down here, but I got one of those bottled mocha frappachino things today (they’re too expensive for my dumb meal plan if I buy them every day) and ever since I drank it, colors have been brighter, the air is fresher, and everything just seems to have fallen back into place. Caffeine, welcome back into my life. Where have you been these past few months? I’ve been lost without you….
Caffeine is my crack, and I’m tired of denying myself the benefits of such a wonderful chemical. It’s basically as essential as food when you have sleeping habits like everyone I know in college seems to have.
If there is anyone that is bored with the everyday beats of hip-hop and rap, and would like to hear some hardcore music. Check out Don Caballero, I might classify him as a person that almost doesn’t have any musical talent. But he is rad.
So I woke up at 10:00 today after getting a little less than 8 hours of sleep and proceeded to basically work through a week’s worth of calculus in one day. It’s nice having only one lecture on Mondays — it gives me time to make up for squandered weekends. Well, the weekends aren’t normally wasted, but this last one was pretty boring and could have been a good opportunity to catch up on my studies. Oh well.
Finally, somewhere to put the details of my boring life on the web for all to see. Yay!
