Ch-ch-ch-changes

Andy, 26 February 2003

Last night I got spanked by all 5 new MQ editors as part of their ‘initiation’ into the crew. It was worth it though, since I now have a photo of Carly touching my ass, hehe. The lot of them—Carly, Lisa, Joe, Dorie and Kathryn—are all freshmen and will be helping pick up the slack once the mass exodus of our current senior editors occurs. They’re all impressionable right now, so it should be fun whipping them into shape.

My boss in the library told me today that she’s leaving soon for a job she landed in Boston managing some huge project at Harvard. Holy shit. I’m really glad for her (it’s a very prestigious job), but it means there’s going to be a lot of adjustments made here at work. I’m going to have to be my own boss for awhile until they hire a replacement (we’re talking months down the line here), which means I’ll also have to deal with professors a lot more and basically run the whole show myself. Yikes.

In other news, Mazer and I have been adding lots of covers now that the whole process is php-ized. Check the “cover art” section to see the whole selection. We’ve also been updating the “personal galleries” sections now that it too is automated with php. Rejoice in the glory of scripting!

Antagonists

Andy, 21 February 2003

Today was “Advocacy Day” on campus or something, and they were handing out blank, free picket signs and markers to write with. Their idea was that everyone would “advocate something, anything” and we’d all march around protesting random shit. Troy and I couldn’t resist and made signs of our own—Troy chose “WWJD 4 Oil?” and I insisted on “Save the Planet, Kill Yourself.” We got some great reactions, heh. Check the cam shot.

Doubting Hair

Mike, 21 February 2003

As the previous post reads, we are currently trying to get a stable server up and running. We are also trying to convert most of the site to sweet, sexy php so we don’t have to touch it ever again.

I am having serious doubts about the length of my hair. For those of you who like my hair would you please tell me so, and for those of you who don’t, just shutup.

Another Year, Another Jamboree

Andy, 17 February 2003

Last Friday we started moving our site to yet another server, and we should be done in a couple days. Bear with us.

This weekend was Jasmine’s Japanese Jamboree, an awesome party she throws every year where we gorge ourselves on sushi and tempura of our own making, then indulge in Asahi and Sake until the wee hours of the morning. Strip poker and movies were mixed in there a bit also. The next morning, after a tepid breakfast at Coco’s (IHOP is superior), the MQ editors all went to Sears to get our family photo taken. Some of us swiped clothing off the racks and wore them into the sitting in pursuit of our theme: “Sunday church with Grandma.” The photos are sure to turn out tacky, and this means that we achieved our goal. Now I have Monday off and need to devote it to mounds of shitty homework. Friggin’ karma.

Special Delivery

Andy, 11 February 2003

Kip got 500 sterile medical vials in the mail. They came in a big bag, which was in a big box. They’re all individually wrapped. Wtf?

Alive

Andy, 5 February 2003

Hooray! Duolab is back up and ready to get back into the swing of things. Both blogs work, the webcams work and we’re now being hosted off of Deskmod servers thanks to Gorman and with the help of Matrix. Tell all your friends!

Trouble

Mike, 3 February 2003

We seem to be having some wacky server problems, but it’s all under control. Even though you won’t see this until we get our server up and running, I just thought I’d tell you.
