Every night the same thing happens. I stay up as late as I can while still getting at least 4 hours of sleep. I can’t help but avoid my bed until the very last second. I’m watching the sun rise now, and I have to be up at 11. Goddamnit.
You know what I need? A personal assistant. Or a coach. Someone to keep me in line and yell at me to take care of my miscellaneous duties efficiently so I can get to bed at a decent hour. I’m guessing that this person should be armed with a menacing whip and a remotely controlled device that shocks my testicles.
Anyone interested in applying?

If I had to sum up the weekend in a single word, i think modest is the best I could do.
I came home from work and took a six hour nap on Friday because I hadn’t slept the previous night. I woke up at midnight when Kimiko came home from partying, then we were both asleep again by 3am.
On Saturday, the girl and I woke up at 7:30am. It was very odd, but I figured it was probably because of my massive nap the day before. Kimiko wasn’t as equipped to handle the morning as I was, so after being awake for a couple hours she went back to bed until noon and I went out and did the first grocery shopping I’d done in a couple months. I was feeling so energetic on Saturday that I decided to cook papas fritas in the morning and a full dinner that night. When I came back, I cooked my potatos while Kimiko made waffles. It was pleasant. Dinner came out okay later that day, but the chicken was a bit too salty because of the marinade.
Shit, I sound like a 40-year-old woman.
On Sunday, Kimiko visited with her brother who was down from Long Beach, and I took the opportunity to nap. Troy and I later took advantage of his newly-empowered ID and we filled out our beer collection even more. The fridge is nothing short of a glorious sight right now. This upcoming week looks like it’s going to be pretty tame (aside from production, which looms on the horizon), so I installed Desert Combat—an awesome Battlefield 1942 mod—and Troy and I played until 5am. It’s been too damn long since I geeked out like that, and I’m eager to get home right now so I can pick up where I left off.
Interestingly, it rained harder than I’d ever seen here in San Diego on Sunday. At 2pm, the sky opened up and water fell in buckets. Within 5 minutes, the rain had tapered down to a drizzle, and within 10 minutes of that, the sun was out again. Good ol’ San Diego. I actually enjoyed the rain, which is something I thought I’d never admit to. I had missed it, but the nostalgia wore off the instant I had to step outside in the puddles and squishy grass. Looks like I only need about 10 minutes of rain per year to satisfy my “rainy day” quota. Good.

This past three day weekend was nice. I slept til 5pm on Sunday because Valentine’s day wore me out.
My weekdays, however, are not as enjoyable. This morning, after the Active Campus developer meeting was done, was marked by my body presenting me with two options:
a. drink water and nap
b. vomit
Yeah. I’m not a happy camper today.

After trading in the evil PDA I’d been grappling with for three days, Prof. Jenik gave me a new one to try working with and I met with success in under an hour. I was stoked—all of sudden, I had the iPaq taking pictures and automatically uploading them to a website that organized them into albums based on date. You can check them out here. I’ll probably be adding quite a few photos as time goes on, and you can use that site to view over 3000 other photos I’ve taken since 2002.

The weekend of the 31st was MQ production, which was predictably stressful and tiring. I was lucky enough to catch a horrible cold at the same time, so I was thoroughly miserable the entire time. I must have burned through nearly 3 boxes of kleenex in 3 days, and my nose is still healing from the abuse I gave it. The paper came out well though—possibly the best this year. Gotta owe it to the awesome top tens. Go check out the new web site, too. Kevin did an awesome job meshing the database backend with the purty front end that Truex sculpted from scratch.
I had a midterm for Art History this past week; I did poorly. Soon after starting on the essay questions, I became overwhelmingly apathetic and didn’t put any effort into my responses. Whoops.
This past weekend was nice. Friday night Kimiko cooked a tasty dinner while I napped. She’s awesome, eh? We were planning on just staying home and being lame, but at the last minute we decided to head back to campus with Reid to see Reel Big Fish play in ERC. How could we possibly ignore a free concert in the newest venue on campus? While I didn’t necessarily enjoy the music, the crowd was cool and Marianne was nice enough to let us hang out in her apartment and utilize her 3rd floor view of the stage. It was pretty awesome to be perched up there and look down on people crowd surfing — sort of like box seats, I suppose.
Saturday night, Kimiko and I had dinner with her SDAFF buddies and then migrated to Dan’s 21st birthday party over in Mira Mesa. The party was great—just the right amount of people, and I knew the majority of the kids there. That sort of thing is more and more important to me these days. Dan’s party (wonderfully hosted by Christina) was the first party in ages that I’d been able to feel relaxed at and have fun because I didn’t have to worry about shady assholes trying fuck stuff up.
Then on Sunday I did jack shit. I probably spent 3 hours trying to scream my PDA into functioning correctly. That stupid little motherfucker PDA. I can’t upgrade the ROM yet, but I need to get the newer ROM so I can use the 802.11b connection to try and upload pda-captured images to Jusspress by Wednesday, when Prof. Jenik has her seminar class.
Fuck technology.
